FaithInvest publishes impact investing white paper

FaithInvest has released a new report on impact investing written by the Investment Solutions team, the Impact Investing Roadmap.

The report covers three topics of interest to faith-based investors:

  1. Understanding alignment versus impact

  2. Private markets for impact investing

  3. The tradeoffs between impact and investment outcomes

Faith-based investors generally seek to apply their resources to create positive change in the world, and impact investing is a powerful instrument to that end, says Nana Francois, Director of Investment Solutions at FaithInvest and one of the co-authors of the report.

The goal of this paper is 1) to provide clarity on what impact investing is; and 2) provide guidance on how faith investors can design and implement an impact investing programme that meets their needs.

Nana Francois explains: 'The Impact Investing Roadmap reflects our objective at FaithInvest to identify challenges and opportunities for faith-based investors, and ultimately to generate a variety of impact investments for the faiths, including lower-risk projects with easier due-diligence requirements, all the way to grass roots investments with riskier profiles.'

Much has been written about impact investing, and we certainly don’t want to be repetitive in this report. 'Instead, we focus on those aspects that are most relevant to faith organisations, and those situations where providing further nuance will help investors make informed decisions,' says Nana.

'Our intent as an organisation is ultimately to generate a variety of impact investments for the faiths, based on input from the faiths, including lower-risk projects with easier due-diligence requirements, all the way to grass roots investments with riskier profiles. '

Each of the three topics explored in an introductory manner in this report will be expanded upon in more depth in future publications in the coming months.
