New webinar on aligning values and finances in Laudato Si Week

FaithInvest and the Laudato Si Movement – the world's biggest global Catholic environmental network – will hold an online webinar on Thursday May 25 to discuss how faith organisations can better align their values and their finances.

The webinar, which is part of this year's global celebration of Laudato Si' Week, will introduce the new sector specific resources produced by FaithInvest and the Laudato Si' Movement, which cover four topics:

  • sustainable investment

  • divestment

  • sustainable banking

  • sustainable insurance

The resources aimed at helping dioceses, universities, schools, and religious congregations to consider whether their financial activities reflect their faith values, but contain much practical guidance that can be applied by any organisation.

About the webinar

As well as introducing the new resources and discussing why faith groups should look at whether their finances are aligned with their values, the webinar will include a Q&A session and offer practical advice on how to get started on this subject, which can appear daunting to some at first.

The speakers include:

  • Dr Lorna Gold, FaithInvest Director of Movement Building

  • Elizabeth Garlow, FaithInvest's Senior Catholic Advisor

  • Joseph D'halluin, a campaigner with the Laudato Si' Movement.

The webinar is free and you can register by clicking below.

The new resources have been uploaded to FaithInvest's Living Laudato Si' resource platform and to the Laudato Si' Action Platform (the Catholic Church's website engaging the wider Catholic world in what it calls 'a journey towards full sustainability, in the holistic spirit of integral ecology').

Both web platforms have been inspired by Laudato Si' – the ground breaking letter to 'all people of goodwill' published by Pope Francis in 2015, which calls on us to 'hear the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor'.
